Welcome to Penobscot Valley 4WD

PV4WD is a group of Jeep owners located in the greater Bangor, ME area. We are a not-for-profit group of individuals dedicated to the enjoyment of the sport we love. We represent the good of our sport and the fight to keep our cause legal.  We strive to work within our community to generate a better understanding of the laws; the respect for the land and the land owners.

Please come in and have a look around!

Wow, is the season really over?

PV4WD

What a great year PV4WD had this year! We got to meet some great people, see some amazing sights and go on some absolutely fantastic rides! It's hard to believe the season is coming to a close!

Just a friendly reminder to all my club-mates and wheelers in general: Remember that the winter months are the sled-guys' time to play. They share some of their paths with us, they deserve our respect during their play season. Don't go trashing their trails. Vehicles ruin good sled trails. Don't be "that guy".

The winter months are a great time to get your rig ready for next season! You've wheeled, now it's time to upgrade those "quick fixes" that turned into "permanant repairs". You can also take care of the stuff that 'needs' to be upgraded before the oncoming season. You know how you did this year, now be ready to really rock in the coming season!

The winter months are also a great time to spend with your family! Believe it or not, 80% of all Jeeper families are missing one or more members as a result of Jeepstification. Spend some time with your family, showing them how to work on your Jeep. That way you'll have plenty of time for those post-ride beers while your 8-year old reseats a debeaded tire and your spouse replaces the snapped steering knuckle in the coming season!

The staff at PV4WD wish everyone a very happy and merry holiday season! Surf the site, offer some advice to a club-mate or ask away if you are wondering something about your rig! It's a great season to meet other members too!

We've got the Festival of Lights parade coming up, followed by the December Meeting on Sunday the 18th at City Side Resturant. Don't anyone forget about the Super Bowl Sunday Food Drive to support Manna ministries!

PV4WD's RMTP 4th of July Wheeling Weekend

What an amazing weekend of wheeling! We just JUST got in and I wanted to post up. A day with Pete Trasborg from JP Magazine on Saturday, phenominal wheeling on Friday, Saturday and a little bit of fun on Sunday morning. Some great carnage, a few trailer rides and everyone is home safe!

More to come including pictures and details about the trip. Until we can get things collected out HERE, check out the forum threads in HERE!

PV4WD 2011 Super Bowl Super Food Drive

pv4wd

A huge thank-you goes out to everyone who helped out in this year's Food Drive to support Manna Ministries! Thank you to the Brewer Wal-Mart for once again sponsoring PV4WD in allowing us to use their store-front to help raise food and donations for Manna Ministries. We more than tripled our food donations and money raised compared to last year's event! Thank you to everyone who donated!

Another thank-you goes out to TJDave for doing much of the legwork to get this food drive set up. Thank you TJDave! A big Thank-You to B.A.F.S. for a generous donation as well! Lastly, a big thank-you to everyone who came out in the cold for a few minutes to all day long to help raise food and funds for Manna Ministries. Being hungry isn't something that anyone should struggle with! Thank you for all your generous help and donations!

Landowner Appreciation Cleanup Day
9/25/10

A word from the club president:

It is a privilege for me to be a member of the Landowner/Sportsman’s Relations Advisory Board for the State of Maine.

For us, activities such as trail riding, be it dirt roads or wood trails; have mostly been enjoyed on private land. This tradition is in danger of disappearing because of abuse by a few people who show a lack of respect for open land access.

Within the last four years alone, at least 425 landowners across the state have requested more than 16,600 “Access by Permission Only” signs from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Many others have gone the route of posting their land as “No Trespassing.”

One of the major complaints from landowners is illegal dumping, there is concern that this has led and will continue to lead to further land closures.

cleanup day 1

Appreciation Cleanup Day on Sept. 25, 2010 was organized with volunteers from local OHV, ATV and snowmobile clubs, land trust organizations and other groups.

cleanup day 2

Penobscot Valley 4 Wheel Drive worked in conjunction with other volunteers in the Hampden area.  The dump site we cleaned involved mostly a construction contract dump, consisting of a complete house remodel.

clean up day 3

The volunteers gathered at the end of the day for a barbeque sponsored by the Town of Hampden.

Because of the success of this Landowner Appreciation Cleanup Day, the State of Maine plans to make it an annual event.

Throughout the State, a total of 56 sites in 12 towns improved through the hard work of 152 people who contributed more than 616 hours of their time. A whopping 46 tons of garbage and discarded items, including more than 16 tons of tires, were accumulated for disposal.
